Hello from all of us at The Vance Toe River Lodge. If you are looking to escape the fast pace of daily life and take a break, you are looking in the right place. Our facilities are located in the Appalachain Mountains of Western North Carolina, nestled in the serene valley of Plumtree, NC. Whether you are looking for a great meal, a Christmas tree, a peaceful getaway at our Bed and Breakfast, or an exciting camping trip, your next adventure is just a phone call away.

Located only 7 miles from the Appalachain Trail, a day trip might be what the doctor prescribes. Any camping equipment you need from boots to stoves to rental backpacks can be purchased at our Outdoor Outfitter store inside the Lodge. There are numerous trails and beautiful spots to rest and relax all through the amazing Appalachian Mountains.

The Vance Toe River Lodge was originally built in 1919 as the T. B. Vance General Store. After trading hands through the years and seeing its fair share of abuse it ended up in the hands of our family, the Youngs. Using every weekend as an opportunity to come up to the mountains from Greenville, SC and work, we slowly transformed the run down building into the beautiful site it is now. Finally we made the big move from Greenville up to Plumtree in order to put all our energy into the Lodge as well as other things like agriculture and opening a campground.

Maybe the woods are not for you and the mall is more your speed. That's O. K. because only 35 miles away you will find Boone and Blowing Rock. Both house many specialty shops and great attractions. If you have kids the Tweetsie Railroad and Mystery Hill can supply a great day of entertainment. In the evening there are many excellent local restaurants and several bars which have live music.
